Question: What are allergy test like?
(Posted by: icybitter on 2010-02-04 22:12:30)
I'm 15 and at the age of about 10 i started to get huge eye circles that look like i got punched in both my eyes. I couldn't find out whats wrong with me so i used concealer to cover them and now my eyes are puffy and my eyelids are smaller, Which throws my face off balance and makes my nose and lips look bogger and my eyes lok to small! I'm going to go for a week without any face wash body wash nothing just hot shower every morning, and i was wondering if you think this is my concealer? and do you think i should go for an allergy test? because i have been to one but that was when i was about 8 because i had a cough and they said it was nothing? I also live in a house with 2 dogs, 8 cats, 4 chinchilla's, a hamster, hedgehog, fish, and 2 birds! I'm going to go for an allergy test once my hair is grown out, and at the moment i am cutting things foods stuff out of my life for weeks at a time to see if that does the trick. I was just wondering what are the different kinds of allergy test such as hair and other things and how accurate are the results and do they hurt? thanks. |

It sounds like the animals are definitely the culprit. Get a skin test for animals & dusts , molds, pollen (if you can). They inject small dots on your back with the actual allergens & rate it on a scale from 0-3. The best bet is to keep the animals out of your bedroom & keep room dust free. Hepa filter that is always on in your room, should clear the air, keep your bedroom door always closed. Whoever in your family that takes care of pets should keep them bathed & brush out their hair out side. Puffy eyes = Benedryl, but take that at night, they make you tired, so before bedtime, & you'll wake up with non puffy eyes. |

I had two allergy tests at two different times and at two different clinics. They were both done the same.Your naked back will be exposed and someone will insert about 20 + / - needles into your back. The needles will contain an allergen. If slight swelling occurs at the site of any needle you are allergic to the allergen on that particular needle. Don't worry the needles are only inserted under the skin. Not painless but only slightly so. Hope this helps. |

Stop using the concealer, it may have caused a kind of reaction. never allow the animals into your bedroom, lick your face and hands. A blood test, and a skin prick test, will show all kind of allergies. So see your doctor and ask him what he thinks it could be, and ask if you could have some allergy tests. dont wait until your hair has grown out, do it now. I was told that the skin allergy test is painless. well i hope so, as i have to go for one very soon. I hope you make a decision soon. |
